Disney World Sues Tax Assessor For Over-Valuing Resorts, Resulting in Higher Taxes

The ongoing tax saga between Disney World and an Orange County tax assessor continues.

Last week, Disney filed several lawsuits against Orange County Property Appraiser Rick Singh over property tax appraisals for 2019. Disney is clamoring, as they have always claimed, that Singh’s numbers are too high.

This isn’t the first year Disney has filed suits against the tax assessor. In fact, they’ve filed a suit every year since 2016.

According to the Disney lawsuits, Singh listed the assessed value for the Magic Kingdom — the world’s busiest theme park — at $504 million. Epcot’s value was set at about $539 million.
