Amazon boss Jeff Bezos has entered an incredibly exclusive club. There’s only one person in this club and it’s highly unlikely to grow any time soon.
According to Bloomberg’s Billionaire’s Index, the CEO has become the first person in the world to be worth more than $200 billion (£150bn).
The eye-watering value came as Amazon’s stocks soared on Wednesday afternoon (26 August) by 2.85 per cent to $3,441.85 (£2,600) per share.
That helped elevate Bezos’ worth to around $202 billion.
This year has been an absolute boon for the CEO, who has seen his net worth rise by around $87 billion (£65bn), partly due to the increased reliance on Amazon during the coronavirus pandemic.
