Elon Musk Has Been Warning of an A.I. Takeover For Years But Are We Listening?

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has reiterated his concerns about the threat posed by Artificial Intelligence (AI), warning that conflict caused by the race to dominate the technology could be responsible for the outbreak of World War III.

“China, Russia, soon all countries w strong computer science. Competition for AI superiority at national level most likely cause of WW3 imo.,” he tweeted at 2.33 a.m. Pacific Time.

He linked to an article about Vladimir Putin, president of Russia, who in a speech to students Friday proclaimed that development of AI raises “colossal opportunities and threats that are difficult to predict now.”

He warned that “the one who becomes the leader in this sphere will be the ruler of the world.”

In debate with Twitter users, Musk unpacked his ideas.

Blacks in SC Town Want Confederate Monument to Stay

Across South Carolina and the South, Confederate monuments are ubiquitous. In Rock Hill, York, Chester, Lancaster, the monuments are in front of county courthouses and in cemeteries, and tout a cause historians say clearly was born out of secession to keep slavery.

Fort Mill is different.

Fort Mill has a monument in its Confederate Park dedicated to slaves. “Faithful slaves” to the Confederacy, the monument states, memorialized by the Samuel White family of Fort Mill.

The debate rages around the country after last month’s violence in Charlottesville, Va., about whether monuments to the Confederacy have a place in modern America.

Illegals Are Furious That Trump is Exercising Constitutional Law

(WASHINGTON) — President Donald Trump is expected to announce that he will end protections for young immigrants who were brought into the country illegally as children, but with a six-month delay, people familiar with the plans said Sunday.

The delay in the formal dismantling of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or DACA, program would be intended to give Congress time to decide whether it wants to address the status of the so-called Dreamers in legislation, according to two people familiar with the president’s thinking. But it was not immediately clear how the six-month delay would work in practice and what would happen to people who currently have work permits under the program, or whose permits expire during the six-month stretch.

It also was unclear exactly what would happen if Congress failed to pass a measure by the considered deadline. Two people familiar with the president’s thinking spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the matter ahead of a planned Tuesday announcement.

The president, who has been grappling with the issue for months, has been known to change his mind in the past and could still shift course. The plan was first reported by Politico Sunday evening.

Trump has been wrestling for months with what to do with the Obama-era DACA program, which has given nearly 800,000 young immigrants a reprieve from deportation and the ability to work legally in the form of two-year, renewable work permits.

Nurse Hailed as Hero For Standing Up to Crazed Utah Cop

An Idaho police department is hailing nurse Alex Wubbels as a hero for standing up to Salt Lake City Detective Jeff Payne, who tried to take blood from a patient without a warrant or the patient’s consent.

That patient, it turns out, is William Gray, a reserve officer in Rigby, a city about 15 miles north of Idaho Falls.

“The Rigby Police Department would like to thank the nurse involved and hospital staff for standing firm, and protecting Officer Gray’s rights as a patient and victim,” the agency said on Facebook. “Protecting the rights of others is truly a heroic act.”

Gray, who is also a truck driver, was badly injured in July when a suspect in a car fleeing police slammed into his truck. The suspect died, and Gray was flown to the University of Utah Burn Center.

In the hospital, police tried to take blood from Gray, who was not under arrest and not conscious and therefore unable to consent to the blood draw. In addition, police did not have a warrant.

FB, Apple, Google, etc. Care More About Illegals Than U.S. Citizens

Back in February, President Donald Trump said he would “show great heart” when it came to the status of the Deferred Action For Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program – and the 800,000 immigrants who are currently protected under it. However, despite pleas from 2,000 government leaders and officials around the country, the president might end the DACA program anyway. On Aug. 31, a new call to protect the young immigrants, known as Dreamers, came in the form of a letter signed by 300 business leaders, including a personal Facebook post from Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg.

Signed by CEOs from Airbnb, Lyft, Netflix, Apple, and Google, the letter was posted on, an organization dedicated to immigration reform. In it, the business leaders write to the president, as well as House Speaker Paul Ryan, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, and Senate Minority Leader Senator Charles E. Schumer. The letter states, “As entrepreneurs and business leaders, we are concerned about new developments in immigration policy that threaten the future of young undocumented immigrants brought to America as children.” It goes on to express how much Dreamers have contributed to society and to subject them to the threat of deportation if DACA is ended would be extremely detrimental to the economy and our society. It ends with, “We call on President Trump to preserve the DACA program. We call on Congress to pass the bipartisan DREAM Act or legislation that provides these young people raised in our country the permanent solution they deserve.” A separate statement from Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella also expresses Nadella’s support of DACA and the Dreamers. POPSUGAR cofounders Lisa and Brian Sugar also joined hundreds of business leaders and entrepreneurs – including Zuckerberg – in signing an additional open letter opposing the termination of DACA, which was released later the same night.

Adam Schiff Resurrects Trump-Russia Conspiracy

Rep. Adam Schiff, ranking member on the House Intelligence Committee, told CNN on Sunday that President Donald Trump is misleading investigators and the public about his ties to Russia.

Schiff made the remarks when CNN’s Dana Bash asked him about recent revelations that Trump’s longtime lawyer and confidant, Michael Cohen, had reached out to a senior Kremlin official during the campaign about a Trump Organization venture in Russia.

In particular, he emailed Dmitry Peskov, a top aide to Russian President Vladimir Putin, last January during the campaign requesting his “assistance” in securing a real-estate deal for a Trump Tower location in Moscow.

The email represents the clearest interaction reported thus far between a senior Trump adviser and a member of the Russian government.

“Over the past few months I have been working with a company based in Russia regarding the development of a Trump Tower – Moscow project in Moscow City,” Cohen wrote to Peskov, according to The Washington Post. “Without getting into lengthy specifics the communication between our two sides has stalled.”

Cohen continued: “As this project is too important, I am hereby requesting your assistance. I respectfully request someone, preferably you, contact me so that I might discuss the specifics as well as arranging meetings with the appropriate individuals. I thank you in advance for your assistance and look forward to hearing from you soon.”

Schiff said the interaction was “very significant” and indicated that “the president was dishonest when he said during the campaign that he had no business in Russia, was pursuing no business in Russia.”

He added that the revelation was also important because if Trump or his businesses were pursuing ventures with Russia during the campaign, “that might have influenced the positions that the candidate took in a more pro-Russia direction.”

Adam Schiff Admits There’s No ‘Proof’ Of Trump-Russia Collusion [VIDEO]

The 11-month-old investigation into whether President Trump or members of his campaign colluded with Russians has still not turned up any evidence that’s strong enough to put before a jury.

That’s according to California Rep. Adam Schiff, the ranking member on the House Intelligence Committee, which is overseeing one of the parallel investigations into whether members of the Trump campaign coordinated with the Kremlin to influence the outcome of the election.

“I’m not prepared to say that there’s proof you could take to a jury,” Schiff told ABC News’ Martha Raddatz on Sunday when asked if he’s seen proof of collusion.

As a leader of the House committee, Schiff has been able to review classified information held by various agencies of the intelligence community. He has also sat in on briefings with FBI officials to review information in the case.

Incapacitated Female Patient Raped at Hospital

A female patient with a serious brain injury was raped at Bronx-Lebanon Hospital, police sources said Sunday.

A registered nurse at the hospital was checking on the 32-year-old patient around 7:45 p.m. Friday when she walked in on Keith Nembhard, 37, having sex with the incapacitated woman, police said.

The victim’s doctor told cops that the woman had a brain injury that rendered her incapable of consenting to sex, according to sources.

Nembhard, who knew the victim, was apprehended, arrested and charged with rape in the second degree, sources said.

Joel Osteen Continues Damage Control After Refusing to House Harvey Victims

Pastor Joel Osteen, who has been under fire for his Houston megachurch’s slow response to helping survivors of Hurricane Harvey, vowed on Sunday that God would “pay back” victims for what they lost.

“We’re not going to understand everything that happens, but having a ‘poor old me’ mentality or ‘look what I lost’ or ‘why did this happen,’ you know that’s just going to pull you down,” he said in his first sermon at his Lakewood Church since the storm.

Instead, he urged his followers to “turn it over” to God.

“God won’t allow it unless he has a purpose for it,” he said. “We may not see it at the time, but that’s what faith is all about.”

Osteen said having faith will “allow” God to “turn situations around.”

“He’s got you in the palm of your hand,” he said. “He’s working in your behalf right now, behind the scenes, he’s lining up things in your favor.”

Then, he cited a passage from the Bible that describes how God will “restore” what “the enemy” is trying to take.

“So let’s don’t have a victim mentality, let’s have a restoration mentality,” he said. “Lord, we thank you, that you’re going to pay back what belongs to us.”

Osteen also had some sharp words for his critics, who slammed him and his church for its delayed response to the storm.

At one point last week, Osteen said the church didn’t open to storm victims because the city hadn’t asked.

Osteen said on Sunday that rising waters approached the top of the church’s flood barriers after the storm, which prevented it from responding sooner.

“It’s easy for somebody from a distance to make judgements without having all the information,” he said. “Some people that don’t have the facts and people who don’t want to have the facts will continue to try to stir things up.”

See Osteen’s full sermon above. He first speaks at the 32:15 mark, then again at 1:28:43.

HOUSTON, Texas — According to TMZ, Joel Osteen’s Lakewood Church in Houston, Texas was fully accessible during Harvey — and Osteen opted to lock the doors to his megachurch at the same time a neighboring hotel not only stayed open, but filled to capacity.

TMZ is reporting the situation at the hotel proves roads in the area were accessible during Harvey. TMZ reported Monday church officials said the floodwaters just wouldn’t allow them to open the 17,000-seat facility.

Osteen has faced criticism after video of the church was posted to Twitter Monday.
