Belgium: Police Will Knock on Doors at Christmas to Enforce COVID Rules

belgium

Belgians have been told that they can expect a knock on the door from police at Christmas if they are not properly following COVID-19 rules.

Yes, really.

Interior Minister Annelies Verlinden warned citizens that their Christmas parties will be interrupted by authorities if they make too much noise.

“If necessary, if there is a lot of noise, for example, the police will knock on doors,” she said.

Belgian Police Launch Raids Amid Migrant Crime Wave

belgian

Police in Zeebrugge, Belgium, arrested over a dozen migrants in raids that came after local residents formed civilian patrols to combat a wave of crime being committed by illegal aliens, according to reports.

Authorities targeted known hiding places for migrants, including the harbor and local shelters, arresting 16 foreign suspects illegally present in Belgium.

“Such actions as those on Tuesday evening will certainly be repeated,” Mayor Dirk De Fauw told local media. “On the one hand to be able to close the premises where transmigrants reside, but also to check on the basis of fingerprints whether the transmigrants can be linked to criminal offenses.”

Belgium to Scrap Face Mask Rules

belgium

Belgian Prime Minister Sophie Wilmes has said that wearing face masks will no longer be compulsory from October 1.

“Wearing a mask is very important in the management of the epidemic. However, there is no point in imposing it everywhere all the time,” Wilmes told journalists in Brussels. Several Belgian cities, including the capital Brussels, had made the coverings obligatory, except when practicing sport.

Masks will still have to be worn in crowded public spaces where social distancing cannot be adhered to.

She said Belgians will need to learn to live with the virus but warned against a “widespread slackening” of basic social-distancing rules. “We are a risk management phase,” Wilmes said, adding that people who have had contact with an infected person would only have to quarantine for seven days.

Belgian Officials Discover Over 73 Percent of ‘Migrant Children’ Actually Adults

belgium

Nearly three-quarters of ‘child asylum seekers’ subjected to examination in 2019 were found to be adults, according to figures produced by Belgian officials.

MP Tom van Grieken requested the information, which was produced by Justice Minister Koen Geens, SCEPTR reports.

Out of 4,563 migrants who declared themselves to be underage in 2019, authorities doubted those claims in 2,546 cases.

Subsequently, further testing conducted upon those individuals revealed that 73.7 percent were 18 or older.

Belgian City Removes Statue of Longest-Serving King After it Was Defaced Black Lives Matter

belgium

After Black Lives Matter protesters in the Belgian city of Antwerp defaced a statue of King Leopold II, Belgium’s longest-reigning monarch, authorities removed it and said it will be put in a museum.

The statue, which was situated in front of a church, was daubed with paint by demonstrators, prompting its removal by local authorities.

However, according to Johan Vermant, a spokesman for Antwerp’s mayor Bart de Wever, the statue will not be returned to its original position after restoration and will instead likely end up in a museum.

“Because of the renovation work planned for 2023 in the square in which it was placed, the statue will not be replaced. It will probably become part of the museum collection,” said de Wever.

Migrants, Gangs Attack Police Across Europe as Social Order Unravels

Police in Germany, France, and Belgium were under siege during the weekend, as mobs of migrants and gangs attacked them in the streets despite coronavirus lockdowns in effect in each country.

In the Anderlecht neighborhood of Brussels, at least 57 people were arrested after violent riots in response to the death of a 19-year-old who reportedly crashed his scooter while being chased after fleeing a police checkpoint.

“Images of the protest show police officers driving a group of young people back, after which they run away,” Bruzz reports. “A police helicopter was also used to monitor the neighborhood. However, this could not prevent the situation from getting very out of hand: young people threw stones at the police and destroyed empty police vehicles.”

Massive Unemployment Among Migrants In Belgium

molenbeek.jpeg

Belgium has the European Union’s lowest employment rate for non-EU immigrants, according to a new report.

A mere 52 percent of non-EU migrants between the ages of 20 and 64-years-old are employed in Belgium, leaving the country trailing France (55%), the Netherlands (60%), and Germany (64%), according to statistics analyzed by Tom Lallemand of SCEPTR.

Interestingly, migrants from predominantly Islamic countries tip the unemployment scales most heavily.

“We must dare to face the facts,” says sociologist Mark Elchardus. “We see the figures in the study I am currently working on.”

Belgian City’s Migrant Population Nearly Doubles

migrants-belgium

The number of migrants currently residing in Ghent, Belgium, has nearly doubled in just four years, according to local media.

More than 3,000 ‘refugees’ are spread out across the city’s asylum facilities, which are full to overflowing.

“Most newcomers are Afghans, Syrians and Somalis,” SCEPTR reports. “Together, these three nationalities make up around 60 percent of all refugees. More than 75 percent of the refugees are men.”

Despite the increasing flow of migrants, Ghent officials claim the city can handle the influx and that there is little opposition from citizens.

Belgian citizens in the town of Dormaal are alarmed at the secretive opening of a new asylum center which will be packed with ‘young men,’ according to local media.

Concerned residents say they have been given little information about the facility, which is scheduled to house some 130 migrants by the fall.

“We all hear rumors here, but there is no sound communication. It is clear that people want to set up such an asylum center here in silence, without notifying the local population,” a resident told Het Laatste Nieuws.
