Leftists celebrated on Twitter after conservative news aggregator Drudge Report published a story claiming President Donald Trump denied suffering “a series of mini-strokes” last year, accompanied by a video showing Trump “dragging” his right leg.
The keyword “Drudge” began trending Tuesday as social media users contrasted DrudgeReport.com’s previous fervent support of the president with the site’s current main headline and image, which appear to suggest Trump could be hiding a physical disability.
The main headline led many to claim Drudge was abandoning Trump and now trolling the president with the “Hillary Clinton treatment,” referring to his aggregation of news items during the 2016 election which reflected negatively on the state of Clinton’s health. (That rumor was later ultimately confirmed when she collapsed during a 9/11 memorial.)
Conservative news giant Matt Drudge on Friday made a somber prediction about Republicans’ chances in the November midterm elections, predicting President Donald Trump will see his party lose 60 seats in the House of Representatives.
Drudge, who runs the influential Drudge Report, compared the upcoming midterms to the electoral bloodbath Democrats suffered in the 2010 midterm elections under former President Barack Obama.
“Trump and Obama both have 47% approval at this time of presidency, according to Rasmussen. Trump will also lose 60 seats in the House like Obama did during first midterm!” Drudge wrote on Twitter.
He added cryptically: “Unless…”
Democrats have to gain 23 House seats in November in order to flip the lower chamber. Democrats have an 83 percent chance of retaking the House, according to FiveThirty Eight.
Conservative media icon Matt Drudge tweeted a list of side effects caused by sleeping aid Ambien after its parent company mocked comedian Roseanne Barr for blaming her bad tweets on the drug.
“The drug company mocking Roseanne for her mental illness while they drug a generation is a new low!” Drudge tweeted Wednesday.
The news mogul included a scathing article about how the sleep aid is abused and used to commit horrific crimes, as well as a list of Ambien’s known side-effects, such as vomiting, memory loss, and suicidal thoughts.
Twitter is hiding a tweet from the official Drudge Report account that features President Trump’s 2020 campaign slogan, “Keep America Great.”
When Twitter users navigate to the page of the Drudge Report with their “sensitive content” filter enabled, they are unable to see the Drudge Report’s full tweet. For new Twitter users, the “sensitive content” filter is enabled automatically and has to manually switched off. Instructions on how to do this can be found at the bottom of this piece.
President Trump revealed his new slogan, “Keep America Great,” at a recent rally in Pennsylvania.
We recently reported on Twitter filtering tweets from President Trump and his son, Donald Trump Jr. The filter appears to be triggered whenever anyone (including the President of the United States) retweets the Drudge Report. Users navigating to the oficial account of the Drudge Report, will find that all tweets from the account that contain URLs are hidden behind the same “sensitive content” warning message. When the President – or anyone else – retweets the account, their tweets are hidden too.
Matt Drudge, editor and founder of the Internet news powerhouse Drudge Report, put the special counsel probe on notice Saturday.
In a flurry of tweets, stark against an otherwise empty Twitter page (Drudge has a habit of deleting his prior tweets), the influential but reclusive conservative figure painted Robert Mueller and his Russia inquiry team as a farce
“Mueller’s secretive grand jury made up of residence from DC, where 91% voted for Hillary…,” he began, referring to the grand jury Mueller put together to investigate possible collusion between the Trump campaign and the Kremlin.
The Drudge Report slammed Alabama GOP Senate candidate Roy Moore as “Judge Whore” in an all-caps lead headline Wednesday, putting more pressure on the former judge amid allegations of sexual harassment and assault.
The influential online aggregation news site linked in the headline to a Daily Beast story about Breitbart News chief Stephen Bannon, who remains one of Moore’s most prominent backers amid mounting Republican criticism. The Daily Beast reported that Bannon is considering pulling his support from Moore over the allegations, which Moore has denied.
