President Trump said Sunday that the Department of Education is examining the use of the New York Times Magazine’s 1619 Project in schools, and warned that institutions that teach this alternative narrative of American history could lose federal funding.
The project is based on the premise that American history began in 1619 — cited as the date African slaves arrived in Virginia — and that everything following this should be viewed through that lens. The Pulitzer Center released a school curriculum based on the project, and Trump responded to a tweet stating that California would be using it.
“Department of Education is looking at this,” Trump said. “If so, they will not be funded!”
Trump’s tweet echoes the sentiment of a bill Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Ark., introduced in July. That bill proposed denying funds to any school that uses the 1619 Project in its curriculum. At the time, schools in areas including Chicago and Washington, D.C., had already amended their history curricula to reflect the project’s messages.

President Donald Trump’s newest Covid-19 adviser on Monday traveled to the swing state of Florida, where he said there is no need to test healthy people for infection and urged the state not to fear the virus, which has killed more than 182,000 people nationwide and infected more than 6 million.
Scott Atlas, who Trump named to the White House coronavirus task force this month, said people who are asymptomatic don’t require testing for Covid-19. Backing the Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis at a briefing in Tallahassee, Atlas said schools should be open to classroom instruction and college athletes should take the field.
“There is no need to fear at this point,” Atlas told reporters. “We are the only country of our peer nations in the western world who are this hysterical about opening schools.”

A Florida business owner who emigrated to the US from Cuba warned he sees “echoes” of communism in the Democrats lust for power during his RNC speech Monday.
“I know all about the past. I’ll never forget my own,” said Maximo Alvarez, the founder of Sunshine Gasoline Distributors, recalling how his family fled the increasingly totalitarian communist nation.
“My family has fled totalitarianism and communism more than once, first my dad from Spain and then from Cuba. But my family is done running away.”
“By the grace of God, I lived the American dream, the greatest blessing I ever had,” Alvarez stated. “I’m speaking to you today because my family is done abandoning what we rightfully earned.”
NFL legend Mike Ditka isn’t a fan of protesting during a national anthem.
National anthem protests are front and center again in the world of sports as players have kneeled in the MLB, and we’re going to see mass protests in the NFL. Ditka isn’t impressed.
“If you can’t respect our national anthem, get the hell out of the country. That’s the way I feel. Of course, I’m old fashioned. So, I’m only going to say what I feel. I think there’s a way you protest and there’s a way you don’t protest,” the former Chicago Bears coach told TMZ during a recent interview.

Maximo Alvarez, a Cuban immigrant who came to America over 60 years ago after escaping communist Cuba, issued a powerful warning to Americans during a round table with President Donald Trump last week, saying that the political Left in America today are “communists,” and that they are trying to destroy the nation.
Alvarez, president of Sunshine Gasoline Distributors, praised the president during the event and expressed overwhelming gratitude for the opportunity that living in the U.S. has afforded him.
During the speech, Alvarez said that he remember murderous dictator Fidel Castro’s promises “that we hear today about free education and free health care and free land.”
“My God, no freedom,” Alvarez continued. “But he never said that until after he was in power, got rid of all the police, got rid of all the military – been there for the last 60 years and counting. And he destroyed each and every one who helped him.”
GOP Senator Tom Cotton blasted the ‘woke left’ Monday for ignoring China’s brutal human rights violations while simultaneously demonizing the US as a terrible country to live in.
In an interview with Sirius XM’s Breitbart News Daily, Cotton reminded listeners that “The Chinese Communist Party is an evil regime.”
“They are running concentration camps in Northwestern China, and they are persecuting Christians throughout their region, and they have long forced abortions on women or sterilization on women,” Cotton urged.
“Yet many of the woke champions on the left in America, like so many NBA players led by Lebron James, turn a blind eye to their crimes, at the same time we denounce our own police officers, which I think is a disgraceful and shameful contrast,” the Senator asserted.
The United States is “witnessing a merciless campaign to wipe out our history, defame our heroes, erase our values, indoctrinate our children,” President Donald Trump said in a speech delivered on Friday evening at Mt. Rushmore, a rock massif that features likenesses of four US presidents.
The faces of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln were carved into the mountain in the 1920s, with each of the heads nearly 18.3 meters (60 feet) high.
“This monument will never be desecrated, these heroes will never be defaced … their achievements will never be forgotten and Mt. Rushmore will stand forever,” Trump said, referencing the recent toppling or destroying statues associated with colonialism and racial discrimination.
An event organized on Facebook aims to unite patriotic Americans under the banner of freedom as the country celebrates its independence while under medical tyranny.
The “America Proud Event” calls on every American across the country to fly an American flag while blasting out the “Star-Spangled Banner,” followed by Lee Greenwood’s “God bless the USA!”
“Tomorrow at 12noon, we encourage ALL Americans to fly your American flag, wherever you may be, and then go outside and play the ONLY National Anthem our Country has, the Star-Spangled Banner, followed by Lee Greenwood’s ‘God bless the USA!’. Play them loud and proud!” a Facebook post for the event reads.
“Let our flag fly high this Independence Day and let EVERYONE across this Nation hear our National Anthem loud and clear followed by ‘God bless the USA’ by Lee Greenwood.”

Republican South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem hit back at critics who accused her of being too lax with her coronavirus response after there was an outbreak at a processing plant in the state. She said the liberal media “have not been telling all the facts behind this.”
Noem responded to the criticism Thursday on “The Ingraham Angle.”
“I had a real honest conversation with the people in our state. I told them I took an oath to uphold the Constitution of our state, of South Dakota,” said Noem, who has not issued a stay-at-home order amid the coronavirus outbreak.
“I took an oath when I was in Congress obviously to uphold the Constitution of the United States,” she continued. “I believe in our freedoms and liberties. What I’ve seen across the country is so many people give up their liberties for just a little bit of security and they don’t have to do that.”
