Seattle’s police chief addressed a letter to the Seattle City Council informing them that protesters had targeted her home at night, and urged them to call for the end of such tactics.
Police Chief Carmen Best sent the letter to the president and public safety chair of the council Monday, and explained how a residence of hers was visited by a “large group of aggressive protestors” who were fended off from illegal behavior by neighbors “despite repeated attempts to do so.”
“I urge both of you, and the entire council, to stand up for what is right,” the letter read. “These direct actions against elected officials, and especially civil servants like myself, are out of line with and go against every democratic principle that guides our nation.”
As protesters continued to camp out in Civic Center Plaza, protesting police brutality and racial injustice, the city posted a notice that construction would begin outside of City Hall on Wednesday.
A public notice of construction was posted outside City Hall on Tuesday. It says the area must be cleared by 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, meaning protesters will need to vacate the plaza.
The construction notice says repairs and renovations will be made to the roof and exterior marble panels.
A group of Black Lives Matter protesters shouted a political script at diners after entering a restaurant in Washington, DC, on Thursday evening.
Over a dozen left-wing activists entered Pisco y Nazca Ceviche Gastrobar, a restaurant serving Peruvian cuisine with limited capacity due to coronavirus-related decrees restricting commerce.
A male led the charge, shouting a prepared script in segments that he read off a mobile phone. His fellow protesters repeated his remarks in a mantra-esque manner.
US President Donald Trump has called on lawmakers to “do something” about protesters who burn American flags, apparently inspired by demonstrators who set Old Glory ablaze just blocks away from the White House.
“It is a shame that Congress doesn’t do something about the lowlifes that burn the American Flag. It should be stopped, and now!” Trump boomed from his perch on Twitter on Tuesday night.
Earlier in the evening, protesters were seen torching an American flag during a demonstration in the nation’s capital, not far from the White House, where a crowd erupted into cheers as the banner burned.
A statue of a 19th-century abolitionist was defaced by protesters who apparently thought the man owned slaves, according to a media personality.
The statue is of John Greenleaf Whittier, a poet who spent 30 years writing articles and essays against slavery for numerous abolitionist publications.
“By the time he was twenty, he had published enough verse to bring him to the attention of editors and readers in the antislavery cause,” according to his entry on Poets.org. “A Quaker devoted to social causes and reform, Whittier worked passionately for a series of abolitionist newspapers and magazines.”
In fact, city of Whittier, Calif., where the statue was erected in 1987, was named after him.
Taking cues from Seattle, protesters in Nashville are attempting to create their own “autonomous zone” near the Tennessee Capitol, but the governor is having none of it, warning that “lawlessness” will not stand in his state.
A small group of demonstrators showed up to Nashville’s Legislative Plaza near the state capitol on Friday, setting up a tent and tables, laying out food and even informally renaming the area to “Ida B. Wells Plaza” after the famed civil rights leader. The move mirrors a similar effort in Seattle, where activists have occupied several city blocks and an abandoned police station for nearly a week, fashioning an “autonomous zone” along the lines of an anarchist commune.
In videos shared online, a small crowd of activists could be seen at Nashville’s fledgling free zone, banging drums and chanting slogans in a festive atmosphere.
Some protesters plan to spend the night in the plaza, according to local media, despite a stern warning from the governor to clear out.
A video clip out of Oxford, UK shows two protesters demanding the removal of the Cecil Rhodes statue before admitting they don’t even know who he is.
Thousands of demonstrators gathered outside Oxford’s Oriel College yesterday to demand the removal of “imperialist” Rhodes statue because it is “incompatible” with the city’s “commitment to anti-racism.”
However, it appeared as though some of them didn’t even know why they were there.
“Do you support tearing down the statue?” two men, who both appear to be Muslims, are asked by a woman.
“Yeah,” they respond.
A man who shot a protester in Seattle, Washington on Sunday was outed as a “white supremacist” by liberals on the internet, but it turns out they were totally wrong.
Video shows the man being attacked by multiple rioters while driving down a street being blocked by protesters before the driver comes to a stop when demonstraters place a barricade in his way.
The driver was surrounded by attackers hitting his car and when one of them reached into his vehicle to punch him in the face, the motorist shot the man.
A police officer refused to kneel in front of protesters who demanded he submit.
The Lowell, Mass., officer was standing guard outside a building when protesters told him to “take a knee,” according to LawOfficer.com.
“Nah,” he responded as respectfully as he could.
Viewers of the clip were overwhelmingly supportive of the cop for not kneeling down to the protest, with several of them stating it would have put him in a dangerous position that would have made him unable to respond to threats, not to mention it would’ve been a dereliction of his duty to stand guard.
“Why are they trying to force people to do something?? What if it was the other way around?? There is not ONE man I know that would get on his knees for ANYONE!!!!” One viewer responded. “And I stand behind that. It’s just a way of trying to enforce your dominance onto another, no matter skin color. This has gotten ridiculous.”
Quick question: would you rather have this officer protecting your neighborhood from civil unrest, or the young Swedish cadet who broke down into tears and took a knee?

Footage coming from protests in Austin, Texas over the past few days proves the demonstrations were not as peaceful as we are being told.
While rioting and looting have taken place once the sun goes down, as seen in cities across the country, the narrative in Austin is that the daytime protests are completely tranquil.
In the video, a “protester” carrying an Antifa flag can be seen damaging police vehicles, as well as “protesters” assaulting police, spray painting them in the face, attacking random vehicles and each other.
