Bill Gates to Fund Quarantine Surveillance Research

The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is eyeing a hefty $6 billion investment in South Korean telecommunications operator KT’s research on infectious disease control and pandemic prevention over the next three years, Seoul-based Dong-a Ilbo reported, adding the tech mogul has recently applauded South Korea’s headway in curbing the spread of the coronavirus.

As per the South Korean telecoms carrier, it has over the past month been conducting surveys into next-generation quarantine prevention methods to better contain the spread of global diseases, with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation aiming to join efforts with KT to develop an early diagnosis algorithm for contagious diseases and a spread path prediction model that would be based on top-notch AI technology and a variety of communications data.

A flu research program earlier launched by Bill Gates reportedly detected the first coronavirus case in the US back in February, but was recently suspended by the FDA for checks to be carried out into the algorithms used.

Contact Tracing: Wash. Gov. to Use Mass Surveillance to Quarantine Anyone Crossing Paths With Covid Carrier

Democratic Gov. Jay Inslee wants to use “contact tracing” to quarantine anyone in Washington state who has crossed paths with a tested Covid-19 carrier.

During a May 12 press conference, Inslee revealed the purpose behind “contact tracing” is to identify and isolate anyone who has come across a tested Covid-19 carrier, presumably by using data from cell phones and other surveillance techniques as discussed by previous media reports.

Contact Tracing Data May Be Sent To WHO, Police, Used to Quarantine People

Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and Centers For Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) policy confirms that “Contact Tracing” data may be sent to the World Health Organization (WHO) and to law enforcement authorities “to place someone under quarantine or isolation.”

The Contact Tracing records, stored at the CDC and elsewhere, can also be sent to the Department of Justice, State Department, Department of Homeland Security, congressional offices, and to various medical and legal departments and contractors.

Democrats are currently seeking $100 billion in a bill that would authorize grants to conduct contact tracing at people’s homes.

Another Dr. Speaks Out Against Quarantining Healthy Americans (Video)

A family practice physician from Newport Beach, California, named Dr. Jeff Barke was recently filmed speaking out against the state’s COVID-19 regulations.

Attending a Riverside, California, demonstration calling for the Golden State to allow businesses to reopen, Dr. Barke said he was representing thousands of physicians around the country who are being silenced for opposing the mainstream narrative surrounding coronavirus safety measures.

“What if the experts are wrong?” Dr. Barke asked to begin his speech. “What if quarantining the healthy doesn’t actually save lives? What if wearing a mask in public is not effective?”

Canadian Man Has Quarantine Fine Increased $1255 For Speaking to Media

A Canadian man who was hit with a $880 fine for walking his dog outside his apartment in violation of a quarantine law had the fine increased to $1200 dollars after media coverage of the incident.

Retired carpenter Pat McHenry of Sarnia, Ontario, took his pooch outside to his apartment building parking lot so the dog could have a bathroom break. McHenry took the stairwell instead of the elevator to avoid other tenants.

Upon returning, McHenry was met outside his unit by two police officers who handed him an $880 ticket for “breaching a COVID-19 safety precaution.”

But that wasn’t the end of the story.

Italian Beachtowns Plan “Plexiglass Cages” to Enforce Safe-Sunbathing

Once the quarantine is over, there will be time to explore and observe how society has evolved rapidly.

Well, by the time everyone makes it out of the house this summer, we all might be ushered back into quarantine by fall as the second coronavirus wave could be fast approaching.

But in the meantime, several of the most impacted industries, that is, travel, tourism, and restaurants, are devising some pretty radical devices in hopes of attracting customers this summer.

The innovator behind “plexiglass cages,” literally a giant box that will be placed around several beachgoers so they can enjoy the ocean while not worrying about COVID-19 carriers coughing and sneezing could be popping up on beaches across Italy, reported la Repubblica.

Navy Quarantines Over 100 From USNS Mercy Treating COVID-19 Patients

The US Navy has removed more than 100 sailors from a hospital ship docked in Los Angeles to aid the city’s fight against Covid-19 after seven crew members contracted the lethal virus – but exactly how remains a mystery.

The 116 medical staff members were pulled off the USNS ‘Mercy’ on Tuesday and brought to a nearby base where they entered quarantine, Lieutenant Rochelle Rieger of the 3rd Fleet told the Associated Press, adding that none have been hospitalized.

More puzzling, however, is how – and where – the seven infected sailors could have picked up the virus, given that the ship’s entire crew of more than 1,000 were tested and cleared before it set off for Los Angeles in late March.

Massachusetts: Mandatory Curfew Ordering Residents to Stay Home at Night

Beginning Sunday, all residents and visitors to the city of Lynn must stay home between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m., Mayor Thomas McGee ordered.

The mayor issued two executive orders on Saturday after consulting with the city council, department of public health and the city solicitor’s office.

The stay-at-home order does not apply to people providing or receiving COVID-19 essential services. Sick people are prohibited from leaving their homes unless they are going out to receive medical care.

“As the outbreak of COVID-19 through person to person transmission continues to significantly affect the way of life and health of our community here in Lynn, we must take additional steps to prepare for, respond to, and mitigate the spread to protect the health and welfare of all of us,” McGee said. “Therefore, I am issuing two Executive Orders to ensure that residents and businesses in Lynn act consistently with the imperative public health mandate. These orders will ensure that the entire community can achieve the maximum amount of social distancing, while continuing to provide and receive essential services, and ultimately slow the spread of COVID-19 to the maximum extent that we can.”

Canadian Police to Make Home Visits to Check Quarantine Compliance

Police in Canada will visit the homes of people under coronavirus quarantine to check they are in compliance, with those who flout the law facing a fine of up to $1 million dollars and three years in jail.

Under the law, Canadians who have returned from abroad or are at risk of having been infected with COVID-19 are mandated to remain at home for 14 days.

Police say they will visit the homes of those under quarantine and advise them of the “potential consequences of non-compliance,” adding that violators could face “significant penalties, including fines and imprisonment.”
