Americans who live in 20 states — over one third of the country — should not be traveling right now, according to the Harvard Global Health Institute’s risk-assessment map, which shows a growing number of states surpassing the thresholds for allowing non-essential travel.
According to CDC guidelines, you should reconsider traveling if COVID-19 is spreading where you live. “Even if you don’t have symptoms, you can spread COVID-19 to others while traveling,” says the CDC’s travel page.
The HGHI’s color-coded map provides a simple way for Americans to assess that risk. Each state has a rating of green, yellow, orange or red, based upon the number of new daily cases of COVID-19 per 100,000 people over a seven-day rolling average. The tool also lets you drill down to the county level.
For months, the Washington Post and the rest of the mainstream media kept a morbid Covid-19 “death count” on their front pages and at the top of their news broadcasts. The coronavirus outbreak was all about the number of dead. The narrative was intended to boost governors like Cuomo in New York and Whitmer in Michigan, who turned their states authoritarian under the false notion that destroying people’s jobs, freedom, and lives would somehow keep a virus from doing what viruses always do: spread through a population until eventually losing strength and dying out.
The “death count” was always the headline.
But then all of a sudden early in June the mainstream media did a George Orwell and lectured us that it is all about “cases” and has always been all about “cases.” Death, and especially infection fatality rate, were irrelevant. Why? Because from the peak in April, deaths had decreased by 90 percent and were continuing to crash. That was not terrifying enough so the media pretended this good news did not exist.
Texas and Florida ordered bars to stop serving alcohol on site Friday amid a record-breaking surge in COVID-19 cases in both states, as the White House coronavirus task force was set to hold its first public briefing in almost two months.
The two populous southern states, home to some 50 million people, were spared the worst of the outbreak in spring but are now being struck hard.
The United States, already the hardest-hit country in the world with close to 125,000 deaths, never fully emerged from its first wave. Following a weeks-long plateau, new cases are once again back to where they were in April.

California reported a record number of new confirmed coronavirus cases overnight — 7, 149, according to Kron4.
That means that California shattered its own record for a single-day count, dating back just to Monday, when it reported over 6,000 new infections, according to the LA Times.
In fact, ABC7News reports, that’s a 69% increase in cases in two days. ICU hospitalizations rose by 18% in the past 14 days.
Gov. Gavin Newsom said in a press conference that California has completed over 1 million tests in the past two weeks, with a current positivity rate of 5.1%. Last week, according to ABC7News, the positivity rate was 4.6%.
Oklahoma Reports Highest Ever Daily COVID Cases Following Trump Rally
Just a week or so ago the mainstream media and thousands representing the “medical community” told us we must throw out the “stay-at-home” orders and go to the streets to protest the death of George Floyd at the hands of the police. The Covid-19 virus will not bother people who are protesting this injustice, they said. The virus only attacks people leaving their homes to protest the stay-at-home orders.
Now, after thousands of businesses – many of them black-owned – have been reduced to rubble and innocent people in the inner cities no longer have anywhere to shop for the basic necessities of life, the mainstream media has backed off of its non-stop coverage of the protests. Suddenly last week they all simultaneously embraced a new fear story to terrify the masses: a “second wave” of coronavirus was among us. It was targeting those states that dared to “open up” their economies and begin a return to relatively normal lives.
Are you ready for the next wave of COVID-19? Actually, the mainstream media is telling us that it is already here, and that has sparked another round of fear and panic on Wall Street.
But the fact that the number of confirmed cases is rising again should not surprise anyone.
As restrictions were lifted, it was inevitable that the virus would begin spreading more rapidly, and that is precisely what we have witnessed.
During the 24 hour period that just ended, there were more than 136,000 new cases reported around the globe, and that is the highest one day total that I have seen so far.
Here in the United States, there were 23,300 newly confirmed cases, and that represented an increase of over 2,000 from the previous 24 hour period.
End of the American Dream
The recent spate of social justice violence and demonstrations, which featured an apparent lack of social distancing, masks, or personal hygiene considerations, received the blessing of public health officials.
As a result, Americans are going forward with their lives with less worry about following significant personal restrictions at a rate substantially swifter than what might have occurred without the protests.
The genie has escaped from the bottle, and press-hungry bureaucrats, anti-Trump politicos, and progressive activists know it. Therefore, the complicit American media is peddling fears of a second wave and the fading presence of the Coronavirus Task Force.
Dr. Anthony Fauci now says that a second wave of COVID-19 may not even happen and that wearing a mask is largely symbolic at this point.
What about the second wave?
In a Wednesday interview with CNN’s “Newsroom,” Fauci — member of the White House’s coronavirus task force — said that a second COVID-19 wave is not necessarily inevitable.
“We often talk about the the possibility of a second wave, or of an outbreak when you’re reopening,” Fauci explained. “We don’t have to accept that as an inevitability.”
“Particularly,” he continued, “when people start thinking about the fall. I want people to really appreciate that, it could happen, but it is not inevitable.”
Fauci admitted that he is beginning to feel more and more optimistic as days go by, and insists that the U.S.’s expanded capability for testing is bolstering the COVID-19 response.
He pointed out that a second wave is entirely preventable if the U.S. is able to have the “workforce, the system, and the will to do the kinds of things that are the clear and effective identification, isolation, and contact tracing.”

President Trump acknowledged Thursday that there could be a second wave of the coronavirus epidemic later this year, but flatly stated he wouldn’t let any further outbreaks shutter the economy again.
“People say that’s a very distinct possibility,” Trump said when asked a possible second wave while in Michigan. “It’s standard. And, we’re going put out the fires. We’re not going to close the country.”
Trump’s comments came as he was touring a Ford Motor Co. plant outside of Detroit that has converted its automobile manufacturing facility into one making ventilators. During a speech at the plant, the president praised Ford workers for their efforts to produce thousands of ventilators during the pandemic.
“The global pandemic proves once and for all that for America to be a strong nation, America needs to be a manufacturing nation,” Trump said. “I’m fighting to bring back our jobs from China and many other countries.”

Two cities in northeastern China have imposed travel restrictions and gone into temporary lockdown amid a new cluster of coronavirus infections which have sparked fears of an impending second wave sweeping the country.
Wuhan, the original epicenter of the coronavirus pandemic, reported at least five new indigenous cases of infection on Monday, adding further to concerns that China may not have entirely vanquished the coronavirus just yet.
Since then, the northeastern Chinese city of Jilin imposed fresh travel restrictions following confirmation of six new infected patients on Tuesday, five of which were traced directly to a case in the neighboring city of Shulan.
