New text messages released by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Wednesday evening suggest that FBI agents involved in investigating Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign bought professional liability insurance for fear of being exposed and sued.
The text messages, reported by The Federalist and included in court filings by Sidney Powell, were part of a new batch of documents released as exculpatory evidence in the prosecution of former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn. The evidence was released after a review of the case by U.S. Attorney Jeffrey Jensen, ordered by Attorney General William Barr.
In one text, an agent speculated that they would be “screwed” when a new attorney general began asking questions about the investigation, possibly after leaks to the New York Times or other media outlets. One text, dated Jan. 10, 2017, read: “we all went and purchased professional liability insurance.” Other texts discussed the rules for reimbursement of that insurance.
Powell also pointed to text messages that suggest FBI agents believed that some officials in the bureau were biased in favor of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton during the 2016 election in arguing that the case against her client should be dismissed.
Fired FBI agent Peter Strzok lashed out at U.S. Attorney John Durham’s ongoing probe into the origins of the debunked Russia collusion debacle following FBI lawyer Kevin Clinesmith’s guilty plea for making false statements.
“Today marks the corrupt transformation of our criminal justice system from a tool to absolve Trump’s allies of wrongdoing into a bludgeon against his enemies. The issue isn’t the underlying acts; the corruption is the disparate treatment of them,” Peter Strzok wrote in a tweet linking to a Lawfare blog post.
Strzok’s panicked comments are notable given that the declassification of an “electronic communication” written by Strzok launching the entire “CrossFire Hurricane” investigation into Trump and his campaign team contained no evidence that Trump or his campaign colluded with the Russian government to steal the election.
Newly released notes of FBI agent Peter Strzok regarding Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn implicate former President Obama and Vice President Joe Biden in the FBI investigation against the former White House National Security Adviser.
The Department of Justice on Wednesday released Strzok’s handwritten notes from January 4th, 2017, the day before the infamous closed-door Oval Office meeting between Obama, Biden, ex-FBI Director James Comey, ex-Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates, former National Security Adviser Susan Rice, and former CIA Director John Brennan coordinating the FBI investigation into Flynn.
Strzok’s handwritten notes reveal that Biden himself invoked the Logan Act as the basis for going after Flynn.
Internal FBI documents unsealed Thursday indicate that Peter Strzok — the now-disgraced anti-Trump former head of FBI counterintelligence — ordered the investigation of former national security adviser Michael Flynn to remain open even after it was slated to be closed due to a lack of so-called “derogatory” information.
The materials surfaced just a day after explosive FBI communications revealed that top bureau officials discussed their motivations for interviewing Flynn in the White House on January 24, 2017 — and openly questioned if their “goal” was “to get him to lie, so we can prosecute him or get him fired.”
Those handwritten notes — written by the FBI’s former head of counterintelligence Bill Priestap, Fox News is told — suggested that agents planned in the alternative to get Flynn “to admit to breaking the Logan Act” when he spoke to then-Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak during the presidential transition period. The Logan Act has never been used in a criminal prosecution and has a questionable constitutional status; it was enacted in 1799 in an era before telephones, and was intended to prevent individuals from falsely claiming to represent the United States government abroad.

FBI Agent Fired Over Anti-Trump Texts Sues For Having His Rights “Violated”
Disgraced ex-FBI special agent Peter Strzok is reportedly back in the FBI’s good graces, and has been seen regularly taking part in meetings at the FBI headquarters, according to insiders.
“Strzok is in the (HQ) building all the time,” one FBI insider told True Pundit on Monday. “He is taking meetings or part of meetings.”
Strzok, who said he’d “stop” Trump from getting elected during the FBI’s phony Russia investigation, reportedly has not been stripped of his security clearance after getting fired in 2018 for his anti-Trump text messages.
“He (Strzok) is getting in with a visitor’s badge and is involved in meetings,” one FBI insider said. “Maybe they are all trying to get their story straight before things go public.”
FBI Agent Fired Over Anti-Trump Texts Sues For Having His Rights “Violated”
Peter Strzok, the former FBI agent who opened the bureau’s Russia probe in 2016 and later became a symbol of alleged “deep state” animus for Donald Trump, is suing the government over his firing.
In a lawsuit filed on Tuesday, Strzok excoriates the Justice Department and FBI for their handling of his dismissal over a trove of text messages he wrote to a colleague that were critical of Trump. Strzok accuses the president of inappropriately bullying law enforcement officials deciding his fate, raises questions about why his texts were leaked to the media and lambastes the administration for only defending its employees’ free speech rights when they are praising Trump.
President Trump tore into FBI Special Counsel Robert Mueller over his decision to erase nearly 20,000 text messages between disgraced FBI investigator Peter Strzok and his paramour, FBI lawyer Lisa Page.
“Wow, 19,000 Texts between Lisa Page and her lover, Peter S [Strzok] of the FBI, in charge of the Russia Hoax, were just reported as being wiped clean and gone. Such a big story that will never be covered by the Fake News. Witch Hunt!” he tweeted Saturday.
Earlier this week, the Department of Justice Inspector General released a report stating that thousands of text messages between Strzok and Page couldn’t be recovered because Mueller’s team wiped them from their phones before handing them over as evidence.
“SCO’s [Office of the Special Counsel] Records Officer told the OIG that as part of the office’s records retention procedure, the officer reviewed Strzok’s DOJ issued iPhone after he returned it to the SCO and determined it contained no substantive text messages,” the watchdog report reads.
Tom Fitton, President of Judicial Watch, spoke to Fox News’s Harris Faulkner about the most recently released Strzok/Page texts. He makes the point that “without Strzok, Page, McCabe, or the dossier, you wouldn’t have a Mueller investigation.”
In this case, you had the leadership of the FBI who thought they could get away with illegally targeting a candidate for the president of the United States. McCabe’s been fired. Comey’s been fired. Mr. Strzok’s been fired. And frankly, what I think needs to be done is we need to hold Mr. Mueller accountable for what went on here because these are the cops that made Mueller’s case. Without Strzok, without Page, without this illicit activity related to the DNC dossier, without the illegal targeting of Carter Page in my view, you wouldn’t have a Mueller investigation. And so, any other prosecution marred by this misconduct of the investigators would be shut down.
Truer words have never been spoken. All of the major players in this story have been discredited. The dossier has been discredited. Since when does the government open up a special counsel investigation targeting the President based on unproven claims made by his political opponent?
If all of the individuals who initiated this fraud have been fired, and the dossier has been found to be complete fiction, then what does Mueller have left? There is nothing to support the case. This is a corrupt investigation, originated by the misconduct of Obama administration officials who wanted to target Donald Trump.
Newly revealed text messages between former FBI agent Peter Strzok and former FBI attorney Lisa Page reveal that Strzok wanted to use CNN’s report on the infamous “Steele Dossier” to justify interviewing people in the Trump-Russia investigation, reports CNN.
“Sitting with Bill watching CNN. A TON more out,” Strzok texted to Page on Jan. 10, 2017, following CNN’s report.
“Hey let me know when you can talk. We’re discussing whether, now that this is out, we use it as a pretext to go interview some people,” Strzok continued.
Recall that CNN used the (leaked) fact that former FBI Director James Comey had briefed then-President-Elect Donald Trump on a two-page summary of the Steele Dossier to justify printing their January report.
FBI official Peter Strzok, who played a lead role in both the Russian meddling and Hillary Clinton email probes but became a political lightning rod after the revelation of anti-Trump text messages, has been fired.
Strzok attorney Aitan Goelman said in a statement Monday that his client, a 21-year FBI veteran, was fired Friday afternoon, claiming this was a departure from standard practice and politically motivated. Goelman said bureau Deputy Director David Bowdich “overruled” the FBI’s Office of Professional Responsibility to remove him.
“This decision should be deeply troubling to all Americans,” the attorney said.
