The World Bank website has an active record for “COVID-19 Diagnostic Test Instruments and apparatus (902780) exports by country in 2018” even though the World Health Organization did not name Coronavirus “COVID-19” until February 2020 amid this year’s outbreak.
The mainstream media publication Newsweek is now reporting that Dr. Anthony Fauci’s National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) funded Wuhan Institute of Virology coronavirus research. Newsweek’s headline proclaims: “DR. FAUCI BACKED CONTROVERSIAL WUHAN LAB WITH MILLIONS OF U.S. DOLLARS FOR RISKY CORONAVIRUS RESEARCH.”

A Washington Post columnist has eviscerated an NBC “investigative” report on the Wuhan Institute of Virology, that did nothing but provide a platform for scientists there to complain they were being made scapegoats over the coronavirus pandemic.
Josh Rogin noted that NBC’s powder puff coverage contained basic factual errors and even mistruths from the scientists interviewed, that received zero pushback from the network.
Rogin continued his analysis, noting that NBC inadvertently revealed that Wang Yanyi, director of the WIV, was bending the truth beyond recognition:
“Yanyi told NBC reporters the U.S. officials visited in March 2018, two months after the first cable was written. The truth is they visited three times, both before and after the Jan. 2018 cable. Did U.S. officials make an entire visit? Not likely,” Rogin wrote.
“That calls into question Wang’s credibility. She also says biosafety was not discussed. Again, calling several U.S. diplomats fabricators? NBC reports that without any pushback.” Rogin added.

The director of the Wuhan Institute of Virology has complained that scientists at the facility are being made scapegoats in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.
In an interview with NBC news Monday, the level 4 bio lab’s director Wang Yany and vice director Yuan Zhiming said that the lab has been unfairly made the centre of dangerous ‘conspiracy theories’, following US intelligence suggestions that it could have been the origin for the viral spread.
“It is unfortunate that we have been targeted as a scapegoat for the origin of the virus,” Wang said, adding that “Any person would inevitably feel very angry or misunderstood being subject to unwarranted or malicious accusations while carrying out research and related work in the fight against the virus.”
The former Trump campaign PR pro suggested the western world is actively building a case against Beijing, attempting to prove that the novel virus “leaked from a Wuhan virus lab”, claims denounced by China as a bunch of “conspiracy theories”.
Staffers from the Wuhan laboratory, which has now taken centre stage in the debate about the origins of the coronavirus pandemic, “defected” and landed in the hands of Western intelligence, Donald Trump’s former campaign strategist Steve Bannon told the Mail on Sunday.
In an exclusive interview with the British media outlet, Bannon claimed that spies, who he said also have “compelling evidence”, were building a case against Beijing based on the assumption that the global pandemic had ostensibly been caused by a leak from the Institute of Virology in Wuhan.
“Regardless of whether it came out of the market or the Wuhan lab, the Chinese Communist Party’s subsequent decisions hold them guilty of pre-meditated murder”, Bannon was quoted as saying.
Senior members of the UK government have become less skeptical of the fringe theory that the coronavirus pandemic came from a lab in Wuhan, China, the original epicenter of the outbreak, high-ranked sources told the Daily Mail.
A member of Cobra, the emergency committee led by Prime Minister Boris Johnson, told the papaer that while it’s still believed that the virus originated from animals, intelligence reports have not ruled out the possibility that the deadly illness was man-made.
“There is a credible alternative view [to the zoonotic theory] based on the nature of the virus. Perhaps it is no coincidence that there is that laboratory in Wuhan. It is not discounted,” the unnamed source told the British paper.
